Connection And Difference Between PVC UPVC And CPVC
What is the difference between PVC, UPVC, and CPVC products? Are UPVC/CPVC both PVC?
To distinguish the different points of these kinds of materials, we must first find out what materials they are.
PVC
PVC polymerizes from vinyl chloride monomer (VCM). Its material has the characteristics of non-toxic, anti-aging and acid and alkali resistance, so it is very suitable for the use of chemical pipelines.
PVC (PolyVinylChloride) generally has 7 grades (SG1-SG7) according to the hardness and performance of the material, and the density is about 1.4g/cm. The products below SG4 are generally soft products, and a large amount of plasticizer needs to add during molding. They are mainly use to make artificial leather, wire, cable insulation layers, seals, etc.
Performance:
SG5 and above are hard products, mainly used to make various pipes, such as drainage, electrician, post and telecommunication pipes, pipe fittings, various plates, sheets, profiles, etc.
PVC molding shrinkage rate is 0.6-1.5%, with good mechanical properties, excellent electrical properties, self-extinguishing, strong acid and alkali resistance, good chemical stability, and low price is a very widely uses General purpose plastic. However, due to its low operating temperature, the highest is around 80 °C, which hinders its development.
CPVC
CPVC is a polymer material modify by the chlorination of polyvinyl chloride . After the PVC resin chlorinates, the chlorine content is increased from 56.7% to 63-69%, which increases the chemical stability and improves the material. The heat resistance, acid, alkali, salt, oxidant, and other corrosion.
UPVC
Its raw material is a mixture composed of a certain amount of solid additives (without plasticizers), which is rigid polyvinyl chloride.
Introduction to Piping System
Both UPVC and CPVC piping systems have the characteristics of corrosion resistance, impact resistance, not easy to deform, smooth inner wall, not easy to scale, good heat preservation, non-conductive, convenient bonding, long service life, and so on.
Therefore, it gradually replaces other metal piping systems on the advantages of high-cost performance and low construction costs, and UPVC and CPVC piping systems are convenient and fast to maintain without long downtime and cause huge losses. Therefore, UPVC and CPVC piping systems are the current industrial piping design. Preferred.
Temperature Difference
The maximum allowable temperature of the UPVC piping system is 60 ℃, and the long-term use temperature is 45 ℃. It is suitable for conveying some corrosive media whose temperature is lower than 45℃; it can also use conveying common pressure fluids, generally use in water supply and drainage pipelines, agricultural irrigation pipelines, environmental engineering pipelines, air conditioning pipelines, etc.
The maximum allowable temperature of the CPVC piping system is 110 ℃, and the long-term use temperature is 95 ℃. It is suitable for transporting hot water and corrosive media within the pressure range allowed by the standard. Generally used in petroleum, chemical, electronics, electric power, metallurgy, papermaking, food and beverage, medicine, electroplating, and other industrial fields.
